Buying a used car is a minefield, regardless of the vehicle or seller
Buying a used car is a minefield, regardless of the vehicle or seller. I've witnessed several close calls recently where even meticulous buyers were nearly caught out.
One case involved a reputable dealership on the brink of finalizing a sale when the insurance company unexpectedly red-flagged the car. The seller was stunned, and the buyer was heartbroken. It turned out the previous owner had concealed the car's history. The dealership ultimately absorbed the financial loss to rectify the situation, while the buyer wisely opted for a different vehicle.
In another instance, a seemingly pristine imported car from England rapidly developed costly mechanical issues. These incidents underscore the importance of exhaustive due diligence when purchasing a used car.
