Incredible Amount Of People Arrested For Drug Driving Over The Bank Holiday Weekend
The Gardaí confirmed yesterday morning that an incredible amount of people were arrested over the bank holiday weekend for drug driving.
An Garda Síochána recently announced that it would be setting up dedicated drug driving checkpoints around the country.
As a result of the first drug driving checkpoints, there are a lot of motorists being caught drug driving so the practice is clearly showing dividends already.
In all 185 people were arrested over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, an increase of 48% on the same period last year.
The first checkpoints were rolled out last week, with samples of saliva being tested to detect traces of the drugs.
The checkpoints test drivers for driving under the influence of drugs including cocaine, opiates, benzodiazepines and cannabis.
