Motorists furious after being clamped due to a parking app error
A number of motorists were clamped on Tuesday morning leaving them furious due to an error with the parking app they were using stopped working.
The Payzone parking app was upgraded on Monday night but when motorists went to use it before 9am Tuesday morning, they were receiving error messages on the parking application.
The service is designed to take advantage of mobile technology allowing motorists to pay for their parking in the most hassle free way possible - via the Parking Tag app on their smartphones, by SMS or phone call.
A South Dublin business owner said that a number of his customers encountered problems with at least one woman reporting that she had been clamped.
Payzone, who are based in Sandyford, confirmed that they had encountered problems with their parking app.
A spokesman for the company explained that customers would not be punished for the glitch:
"Parking Tag experienced a minor outage this morning following an overnight technology upgrade, the issue was resolved by 8:52am."
"Any tickets or clamps applied to Parking Tag customers during this short period will be refunded in the normal manner."
