The world's most Googled car brands by country
From viewing this map it is quite apparent that most of the world is biased towards Toyota.
Another noticeable aspect from the map indicates that only five countries showed some kind of patriotism in their searches. The most patriotic nations when it comes to googling car brands were Sweden who of course gravitate towards Volvo, while the French loyally go for Renault, with Volvo being the most searched for in Sweden, Renault in France, Mercedes-Benz in Germany, Perodua in Malaysia and Maruti in India.
Here are some of the findings in the latest automotive study by UK insurance company Veygo.
They analysed Google's search data from the past 12 months and discovered which car brands were the most popular by country.
You will no doubt have already noticed by the amount of red on the infographic that Toyota is by far the most searched for car brand in the world.
According to the research, Toyota came out on top in 57 of the 171 countries that were surveyed, commanding a global average of 7.8 million searches a month.
Much of the African continent has an interest in Toyota and it was the most searched car brand in South Africa and its neighbouring countries, Namibia and Mozambique but other neighbours Botswana and Zimbabwe seem to have loftier notions, with BMW being the most searched for brands in these countries
Toyota was also the most popular automotive search term in the USA, Canada and Australia.
According to the research, BMW was the second most widely used search in the country rankings globally, dominating in 25 countries, closely followed by its arch-rival Mercedes-Benz, at 23, while Honda and Ford were the runners-up in the outright numbers game, attracting 7 million and 6.4 million searches respectively.
Interestingly, Lamborghini topped the search terms in 12 countries, while seven nations, including Norway, the Netherlands, China and Hong Kong, opting for Tesla.
