UK brewery to install electric car chargers at 2,700 pubs

Charge up at the pub!

In keeping with their name, the UK brewery, Greene King is planning to install EV charging points across its 2,700 pubs.

The company has said that in the first phase, they will install charging points at 900 pubs by the end of 2020.

The pub charging points will be Pay as You Go using contactless payments with the first charging point opened up already at The Churchill, in Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. Tony Hodgson, head of estates at Greene King, said:

“We’ve been working hard developing our sustainability plans as we continue to build a greener business.

“With more people buying electric cars in a bid to be more environmentally friendly, we want to support our customers who come to dine or stay with us by offering electric charging ports in our pubs that are able to do so.”

The UK will implement a ban on selling petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars from 2035 at which time all new cars sold must be electric or hydrogen.
