Volkswagen announce record car sales in 2019
VW is the world's biggest car manufacturer
Volkswagen had record sales in 2019 and the figure will determine if they remain the world's biggest car manufacturer once again.
The giant German carmaker, which is based in Wolfsburg produced 10.97 million vehicles last year.
This massive figure was an increase on 2018 when VW rolled 10.83 million vehicles off the line getting to the top spot over Toyota and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
When Volkswagen trucks were removed from the figures the alliance was slightly ahead of VW.
Toyota estimated in December 2019 that they would reach 10.72 million vehicles, but if that figure pans out, it would leave it behind Volkswagen in second place for global car sales.
The amazing thing about these figures is that Volkswagen was to increase all these sales despite the shrinking global car markets and its market share increased against the competition.
Sales were boosted by strong results in its home market in Germany, the US and in Brazil, while sales slipped in the Asia-Pacific region.
