Woman attacked as man jumps into her car
Gardai are on man-hunt for individual who jumped in woman's vehicle in an attempt to steal it
The incident that occurred on Friday afternoon in Trammon, Rathmolyon. A post was put up on facebook detailing the incident and warning people to be aware.
It was reported that the woman came across a silver van on the road that was partially blocking her path. As she approached the vehicle it began to do a U-turn and appeared then to be blocking her path.
At the same time, a man appeared from a nearby hedge and jumped into the vehicle with the woman. In doing so he hit her in the head and attempted to steal her keys. Luckily the two were unsuccessful.
The guards are not investigating the assault on the woman and are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage. The guards are looking for a silver van in particular as this is what the woman has been reported.
No arrests have yet been made and investigating gardaí are in the process of attempting to identify the suspects in the case.
This is not the first attack of this kind, drivers should be vigilant and lock their doors while driving.
