BMW urgently recalls cars over fire fears
BMW Recall
BMW has issued an urgent recall for more than 16,000 vehicles in Ireland due to a fire risk. A total of 16,195 cars sold here are affected here in Ireland.
The recall notice was shared to the public also by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission earlier this week.
The voluntary recall affects some models in 3 series where the vehicles concerned may, as time goes on, be affected by a contact fault due to frictional corrosion on the connector from the wiring harness to the blower control unit.
This particular issue could cause damage to the insulation of the wiring harness, which could trigger a short circuit. A spokesman for BMW Ireland said:
"BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited will directly contact all affected customers by post advising them to make an appointment with their local Authorised Repairer where any necessary repairs/replacements of parts will be carried out.
"If you believe that your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, then you can contact BMW’s customer care on 1890 719 421 or by email at customerservices@bmw.ie"
